Advertising

L.E. Waterman, the fountain pen manufacturer, is spending a few days in Atlanta as a guest of the Piedmont.

"I believe in advertising,"said Mr. Waterman yesterday. Every man who is in business ought to set aside a certain percentage of his income every year for advertising purposes, the proportion being gauged, of course, by the nature of his business. A man who depends on the patronage of people all over the country must advertise more than the man who depends merely on the trade of one city or town. But all of them must advertise in order to make a success of their business."

"In the year 1902, I spent $76,000 in this way. Last year I spent $100,000, and this year my advertising account will amount to just about $125,000, but a part of this will be used for an exhibit at the St. Louis Exposition."
