In the last few years I have done a lot of research on old fountain pens, and in this pursuit I have read through tons of old newspapers and journals. As my father always said, "To find the Rosetta Stone, you have to dig."

Interestingly, even though technology changes in an eye blink, people have stayed pretty much the same. Our grand parents and great grandparents enjoyed a good laugh as much as we do today, and every once in awhile, I come across one of these while searching for other fountain pen lore. I find these precious bits of information because they tell a lot about the popular views people had for their pens. Today, we have a choice. We have the privelge to choose to write with a fountain pen if we want, or we can use one of those 49 cent disposable ball point pens. Our ancestors didn't have it so lucky. Makes you wonder how much Thomas Jefferson would have paid for a Bic disposible pen.

Collected here are a few gems of old-time humor related to fountain pens, or even earlier writing implements. If you have a good fountain pen joke or story to share, let me know and I will place it here with your credit.

You can use this mail form to send the joke. If you have an image to send mail it to fphumor@kamakurapens.com
