Arabian Card

Arabian Fountain Pen

This company first followed the department store, Maruzen and their business model by importing pen parts and nibs from Onoto in London, but soon they began manufacturing their own pens and parts. Eventually they found that supplying parts to small pen makers was more profitable than selling pens under their own name. If you find a no-name Japanese pen with a clip imprinted with NEW or NEW CLIP or NEW FOUNTAIN PEN it is likely that this company manufactured the parts for your pen. Arabian would also sell pen barrels imprinted with the small pen sellers brand name, and this is why we find so many Japanese pen brands. At one point before the war, nearly every stationary store and bookstore in the Tokyo area were selling a pen with their name on it manufactured from Arabian parts.

Finding an original Arabian pen with the Arabian or Arabian Ford name is very difficult to do. I only have a few in my personal collection and none of them are in good condition.

Good Hunting.

The Images

I would like to eventually ad an image of a pen or an advertisement for each of the pen makers in the database. Obviously a Herculean task. If you have an image to share, I would be happy to give you a link and credit.
