Nine Fountain Pen
Up for auction is a very rare Japanese "Nine" An obscure Tokyo pen maker that started manufacturing pens in the early 1930's and quietly disappeared before 1960. I've seen a few Nine's before, and they all tend to have brightly colored celluloid caps and barrels. This one has a deep red and gold marble. Quite an attractive pen. The nib is nice and smooth and more of a medium than a fine, which is rather rare for Japanese pens. Also the pen has some nice flex for line variations. Perfect for calligraphers, or people like me who like to play with flourishes or cursive, copperplate style calligraphy. The nib is 14K gold and since it does not have a JIS mark, would date the pen to early to mid 1930's.
