Ryo Pen is a pen from the very obscure pen maker, The Ryo Pen Company. In Japanese Ryo means "Dragon", quite an interesting name for a Japanese fountain pen. I haven't learned much about this pen company. Only that it was a manufacturer during the late 1950's and early 1960s. The pens are always very colorful with gold caps. The nice thing about this pen is the sweetly smooth flexy nib. See the writing sample. The barrel is made of a translucent celluloid or some other early plastic. Like a pearl, it both reflects and absorbs light, which makes the color and shine change depending upon the angle that you hold the pen. You could nearly hypnotize yourself by staring at the pen too long. The cap, nib style and section ring are very similar to the 1950's Pilot Supers that were very popular during that time. Likely Ryo was trying to cash in on this popular market with the added feature of colors that Pilot didn't offer.
