Aikin Lambert & Co. ( ALCO )
Aikin Lambert started out as two Manhattan jewelers , James Cornelious Aikin and Henry Lambert, who joined forces to enter the gold pen business that was growing after the Civil War. In the late 1880's, Aikin Lambert first made fountain pens under Paul Wirt's patents. In the early 1890's Aikin Lambert began to supply Lewis Waterman with gold nibs . As Waterman grew more successful he took more control over Aikin Lambert and eventually bought out the company altogether by 1915. Most of the Aikin Lambert fountain pens that you will find are very high quality pens. Some of the most beautiful overlay pens that you will ever see are and some of the finest writing pens are Aikin Lambert Fountain pens. |
