J. Ullrich & Co. or JUCO
This is one of the pen makers that I have researched a long time, but have found very little. Part of the problem is that there were many Jacob Ullrichs in New York and New Jersey in the 1880's, and I am not sure which is which.
Jacob Ullrich was born in Hamburg Germany in 1854 and immigrated to The US in 1876 aboard the S. S. Gellert on her maiden voyage.
Jacob settled down into Hoboken, New Jersey, an area where a great many German immigrants lived. I've found some refrences to a Jacob Ullrich working as a type setter and compositer in Manhattan in the late 1870's, but I haven't been able to confirm if this is the same J. Ullrich.
In 1882 Ullrich patents a version of the Stylographic pen, and soon includes fountain pens as well. His main line of pens are:
Independent
Vulcan
Star
