Dear Readers,

I have now been a member of Kamakura Pens for six months. I have learned much about fountain pens during this time. When I first joined, I never imagined how important fountain pens could be. With my first salary, I purchased for myself a Parker Sonnet. I didn't know what pen to buy, but the name Sonnet appealed to my heart. I use this pen every day and it encouraged me to write letters to my sister. This was a thing that I have never done. My sister and I are currently growing closer after a difficult time. I owe many thank yous to my Sonnet.

When I first joined Kamakura Pens, most of my work was with translations of ancient pen catalogs and carrying packages to the post office and keeping Ron-san organized. Now my responsibilites are increasing. It is now my responsibility to keep the website up to date and find newsworthy stories. Additionally, it is my responsibility to monitor the Kamakura Pens discussion board. Every Sunday morning, I go pen hunting with Ron-san to the antique markets. Also I look forward to attending pen shows in The United States this year. I will need to study English a little more before I go. Writing English takes a long time for me, speaking English is much more difficult and it makes me stress.

I would like to ask you to send me pen images that I will use for the Kamakura Pen's Pen of the Week. I enjoy seeing the new pen, and I scolded Ron-san for not keeping this up to date. I was calling it the Pen of the Whenever. My oath to you is that this will now remain the Pen of the Week.

I have only worked here for six months, but I have much ambition for Kamakura Pens. I am happy to be here, and I would like you to feel the same.

If you have a question about pens, please feel free to send me an e-mail. I am not an expert, but I can ask many people for the answer. My e-mail address is meg@kamakurapens.com

Sincerely,

Megumi Ikeda
