Last July, Ron-san gave me a very expensive digital camera. I was speechless, until I learned that the camera was broken. He bought himself a new one and gave me the broken one, allowing me to cut through all the redtape to have it fixed if it were possible. What a nice guy. :)

Beggars can not be choosers or so they say, so I took the broken camera to the Sony repair center to see if the camera could be saved. It seems that Ron-san kept the camera in a very cool place and then took it outside in the hot humidity air. This created a wetness inside the camera and shorted the camera.

The warranty was no longer valid, so I needed to pay niman yen (this is similar to $250 US Dollars) That is a lot of money for me, but I know the original camera price was many times more expensive, and for a long time I have wanted a digital camera of my own. I borrowed a little money from my parents, and they said this was my Christmas present. Today I practiced taking pictures with the camera. I can easily take snapshot level photos. However taking images of pens is more difficult. I will need to practice. I went back and studied the pen images on Stylophiles and I felt my heart sink. I do not think I will ever be able to take such lovely images, but I will keep trying.

Love, Meg
