Today I learned about the Krone Pen company. All I can say is
interesting. First I was surprised by the advertisements. "chotto
H" Obviously Krone is going for a little shock value to sell
their pens. Ron-san explained that several people in the pen world
complain about these ads. I have a little experince in the Advertising
industry, and what I learned there is that any reaction is better
than no reaction. If the ads are slightly offensive to some, then
they are at least eye catching. I do not know if this is enough
to sell the pens however.
The pen I studied was Krone's new Einstien pen. I am still undecided
on how I feel about this pen. It is big and looks unconfrontable
to use, but I understand that these pens were not designed to
be used. They are like the collective plates that my mother displays
at home. They are nice plates, but my mother would never use them
to serve food. The pens are the same way. They commeration some
person or event.
One point disturbed me. Krone took an original Einstine doccument
and cut it up into tiny pieces. Each pen has one of these tiny
pieces displayed in the top of the cap. Krone does this in all
their pens. The Abraham Lincoln pen has a tiny piece of a strand
of Lincoln's hair inside.
The big question for me is, if I could afford a Krone pen, would
I buy one? Probably not. I am just getting into pens, and there
are quite a few on my list that I would like to try. However,
if it were not for the eye catching ads, I wouldn't even have
been aware of the Krone pen company.
