Of all the Japanese fountain pens that I have in my personal collection, the early Pilot pens are my favorites. Pilot entered the Japanese fountain pen market well behind the others, but with a huge, diligent will, Pilot quickly became the industry leader of Fountain pens in Japan.
Pilot seems to have been the first of the Japanese pen makers to develop maki-e pens, the 1960's short pens, the Murex integral nib pens and several others. Quite a history.
