This portrait was finished in 1898 just after McKinley took office. On the desk we can see an ink pot and what looks like a dip pen of some sort. However, Waterman used this endorsement below in 1906, dating the quote to 1901, just before McKinley's assination. "I have been using a Waterman Ideal Fountain Pen for several months and take pleasure in saying that I find it an invaluable pocket companion." |
