Vintage Sailor Maki-e fountain pens are some of the hardest pens in the world to find. Not many were made and very few of them have survived. This is one of Sailor's over-sized maki-e pens from the 1930's. It uses a combination of techniques, including takamaki-e ( a sculptured surface from multiple layers of lacquer) The image is difficult to photograph, but it is an image of Yamanakakou, one of the great lakes at the foot of Mount Fuji. The detail is amazing. waves, birds ships trees are all present. The pen also has a huge size #20 Sailor nib. The clip is Inscribed "New Clip" In the 1930's Sailor bought many of their parts from 3rd party suppliers. Please write for questions. This is a serious pen, and you should ask a ton of questions before deciding to buy. $3,500 SOLD
